Fred Haas Toyota Country is a high-volume Toyota dealership in Houston looking for a detail-oriented General Accounting Clerk to join our accounting office. This role supports daily accounting operations across sales, service, and parts, and is a strong fit for someone who wants to learn dealership accounting from the ground up.

Job Responsibilities

  • Post new vehicle invoices and set up units in inventory
  • Process used vehicle purchases from auctions, private parties, and other sources, including payoffs and title documentation
  • Process incoming and outgoing dealer trades, including floorplan payoffs and receipt of funds
  • Process wholesale transactions and confirm proceeds are received and inventory is relieved
  • Post product cancellations
  • Reconcile factory, floorplan, auction, and vendor statements to the general ledger
  • Reconcile new and used vehicle inventory schedules and research out-of-balance items
  • Support floorplan audits and month-end close
  • Maintain organized deal and inventory records in line with retention requirements
  • Track and follow up on contracts in transit and factory receivables
  • Reconcile GL schedules and research aged or out-of-balance items
  • Assist with other accounting projects as needed

 

What We're Looking For

  • 1+ year of accounting or bookkeeping experience
  • Working knowledge of debits, credits, and account reconciliation
  • Proficiency in Excel (lookups, basic formulas, sorting and filtering)
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to meet daily and month-end deadlines
  • Clear communication and comfort working with sales, F&I, and office staff
  • High school diploma or equivalent required

Preferred

  • Automotive dealership accounting experience preferred. 
  • Experience with Reynolds & Reynolds (ERA-IGNITE), CDK or another dealer management system

Physical Demands

  • Sit for extended periods while working at a computer
  • Use a computer, keyboard, calculator, and standard office equipment for most of the workday
  • Read and review documents and data on screens and paper for long periods
  • Occasionally stand, walk, bend, and reach
  • Occasionally lift and carry up to 10 pounds (deal jackets, file boxes, and supplies)
  • Work mainly in an office setting, with occasional outdoor exposure to heat and weather during lot inventory checks
  • Work in a fast-paced environment with daily and month-end deadlines
